June Update

The CPSE last month went as it was supposed to.  Amanda and Amy both spoke briefly about how Miles was doing, the progress he had made as well as the what he is still working on.  I was comforted to see that Mark's former kindergarten teacher was there as the special education representation.  I feel like she was there at the very beginning of this process and now agin and this crucial transition.

After everyone had spoken I was asked if I had any questions.  All I could come up with was to ask about the kindergarten screening process and what I could do to prepare him for that.

Overall I was satisfied with the way the meeting went, all twelve minutes of it.  But I still do not feel that he is ready for a full day classroom.  He does not function as a typical five year old and I would feel more comfortable if I had Jarod's support to put him in  a full day preschool setting next year.  One with structure, meals, a larger class, and plenty of chances to run around still.

Today Miles had his five year physical.  This is the one that we have to send copies to the school and the camps for immunization records.  Apart from the shots he is quite healthy and much improved from the last year.  The only minor issue was his height and weight.  He has moved from the 10th to the 5th percentile, gaining only 3 lbs and 0 inches in the last six months.  The doc said she would like to recheck his stats when Mark has his physical in August.

Next milestone is his kindergarten screening schedule for 6/29.
